Biography

Julio Pérez Serrano is a Full Professor of Contemporary History and Coordinator of the PhD Program in Arts and Humanities at the University of Cádiz. Since 1993, he is the Head of the Contemporary History Research Group (GEHA). Between 1993 and 2004 he also coordinated the PhD Program in Geography and History at the University of Cádiz. Since 2005 to 2017 he was Director of the Master’ Degree in Contemporary History and the Master’s Degree in Development Cooperation and Project Management at the University of Cádiz. Since 2000 he chairs the Association of Contemporary History and coordinates the International Academic Network of Contemporary History, funded by the R+D+i National Plan. Since 2003 he is editor of Revista de Historia Actual and Historia Actual Online, and director of the collection Historia Actual of La Xara publishing. Promoter and director of the International Congresses Our Common Heritage, which are held annually at the University of Cádiz since 2001. He is director of International Symposiums of Contemporary History, organized every two years since 1996 by the Government of La Rioja. In collaboration with Marie-Claude Chaput he is Director of the annual Conferences The Spanish Transition: New approaches, held at the College of Spain in Paris since 2009.
